Tottenham wide-man ‘could be’ in the squad to face Watford on Saturday

|

BBC Sport say Ryan Sessegnon ‘could be involved’ against Watford on Saturday after returning to full training during the international break. The 19-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of football for Tottenham since joining from Fulham over the summer, but he’s likely to feature against the Hornets.

Mauricio Pochettino is spoilt for choice in the wide areas with Heung-min Son, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen at his disposal. He also has Danny Rose and Ben Davies competing for a place at left-back too, so it remains to be seen how Sessegnon will be utilised on Saturday.

Tottenham can’t afford any more slip-ups. They currently sit ninth in the Premier League with 11 points from eight games and have suffered defeat in two of their last three. Spurs face a Watford side who are rock bottom in the table and yet to pick up a win this season, so they’re big favourites to get a result.

This may be the ideal game for Pochettino to give certain fringe players a chance to prove their worth. Sessegnon may not be handed his first start for the North London club, but he should at least make the squad now he’s returned to fitness.
