Tottenham have injury doubt ahead of Watford clash, 27-year-old ‘faces late fitness test’

|

BBC Sport say Tottenham have one injury doubt ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Watford – Christian Eriksen (dead leg). The 27-year-old ‘faces a late fitness test’ before Mauricio Pochettino decides whether to include him in the squad against the Hornets.

Tottenham are big favourites to pick up all three points with or without Eriksen. Watford are currently 20th in the Premier League table with only three points from eight games. The Hornets are the only side without a win this season and have a goal difference of -16 – four goals scored, 20 conceded.

Eriksen has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating two goals. He’s yet to miss a game in 2019/20, but the Danish international hasn’t been at his best. Unfortunately for Pochettino, replacements such Dele Alli hasn’t shone in the playmaker role either.

Giovani Lo Celso could be an option in midfield, but he’s just returned from injury and may only be fit enough for the bench – the 23-year-old hasn’t played for Tottenham since their 2-2 draw with Arsenal (September 1). If Eriksen is fit, he’s likely to start.
