Todays Tottenham Talk comes from Hotspur_72..

1) What (or who) made you a Tottenham fan?

My Grandad was an Arsenal fan and growing up in Stoke Newington, I could actually hear the noise from Highbury on match days. I resisted and shortly after became a lifetime Lillywhite. A few years later I was in the West Country & saw my first game at Ashton Gate on a freezing cold Saturday: Ardiles, Villa, Perryman, etc. Actually the late Mark Kendall was in goal that day.

2) What have been your best and worst moments as a fan?

Like Paxton53, I relish in the 80s victories and still consider the 86/87 team a classic one. I too was sick as a pig over the FA Cup final loss and worse, the semi-final loss to the Arsenal at the Lane (another cold night!)

Getting older makes you sentimental I guess, so I’m big enough to admit to shedding a tear or two last season: one for the way Jol’s last game went – sitting in my living room watching the Getafe match I knew it was done – I didn’t need the Internet to tell me. Then in late February, tears of joy! Sharing that moment with my nine year old boy was truly joyous!

3) Have you been impressed with the summer signings and who do you feel will have the greatest influence on the team?

So far, I’m on the fence. Modric had moments of greatness in Euros 2008 but I expected more. I’m still waiting for some more signings and curious to see exactly how many will be shown the door…..

4) What are your expectations for the new season?

Too high as usual. Still gutted that last season’s league performance was pants, especially after the Carling Cup win. So, top five is the expectation and another pot – preferably the Yoofah.

5) Do you see anyone breaking through from the academy next season?

I’d like to see Pekhart get some action.

6) If you were manager/owner, would you be looking to steer the club any differently?

Occasionally second-guessing some of Comoli’s signings! But otherwise, I’m as optimistic as ever!

7) Who is your Mr Tottenham?

Bill Nicholson – need you ask! (Chiv & Hod were my first player idols though!)

8) If you could choose any three players from Tottenham’s past for today’s team who would they be and why?

Paul Gascoigne – dazzlingly genius one moment and maddeningly annoying the next, but never a dull moment. You always had a chance with him in the side

Richard Gough – one season was never enough for us to see how great he could have been for us if he had stayed

Jimmy Greaves – with Gough keeping ’em out and Greavsie banging ’em in, we can’t lose!
