Mourinho makes 4 changes, Ndombele starts & £51m star dropped: Predicted Spurs XI vs Arsenal

|

The North London Derby is here as Tottenham Hotspur are set to host Arsenal later this afternoon.

It is perhaps the most underwhelming battle of recent times as both teams occupy spots outside of the top seven.

Last time out, Jose Mourinho’s side endured a bit of a shocker as they couldn’t see a way past relegation-threatened Bournemouth in midweek – in fact, Spurs couldn’t register a single shot on target against the Cherries. Poor.

With that in mind, will the Portuguese tinker with his lineup? Here’s what we are predicting…

Spurs predicted XI vs Arsenal

There could be as many as four changes as Mourinho looks for a reaction following from the disappointment in midweek.

Hugo Lloris should keep his place between the sticks as skipper and first-choice under the 57-year-old but in front of him, there is a switch.

Last time out, Belgian duo Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were selected but the latter could be dropped in favour of Davinson Sanchez, who could offer more pace and flexibility than the 33-year-old. Something that’ll prove key up against Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette.

Whilst Ben Davies and Serge Aurier keep their places at full-back.

In midfield, there could be a rare start for Tanguy Ndombele who showed glimpses of his quality from the bench down on the south coast. He’s really due a start post-lockdown.

NLD Prediction?

Spurs win

Bore draw

Arsenal win

He’s likely to partner Harry Winks rather than Moussa Sissoko with Giovani Lo Celso occupying the attacking midfield role. Dele Alli has already been ruled out of this one due to an ongoing hamstring strain.

Mourinho could change both of his wingers after they failed to impress against Bournemouth. Therefore, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura are in line to be handed starts with Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn dropping to the bench,

The £51m-rated January addition failed to record a single shot or dribble on Thursday night.

Harry Kane should, of course, lead the line once again.

Call it blind optimism or just plain foolishness but I’m going for a Spurs win.

Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 The other lot!

    But 0-0 will do HAHAHA!

EssexSpur, Sadly I think that is much more likely than my foolhardy prediction.

  • Brett Davies says:

Goes wholey against the grain, much as it pains me to say but if that’s the back 4 only Tony deserves his spot, Sanchez prone to mistakes and I predict he’ll give away a penalty, and far as eye can see we’ve got the worst two full backs in the first three divisions. Can see a win for the others God help us.

At last… Spurs play with some attacking intent, a solid defence and then we look so much more like a winning team.

    Good all over the pitch….

    Come On You Spurs!
