Tottenham eye highly-rated midfielder, Real Madrid ‘considering’ £18m bid

|

According to Skopje24, Tottenham are interested in Eljif Elmas. The central midfielder has made 28 appearances in all competitions since his 2017-move from Rabotnicki. His form for the Turkish Super Lig side has led to Elmas making five caps for the Macedonian national team too.

Spurs have stiff competition to land his signature, however, with Real Madrid reportedly ‘considering’ an £18m bid for the 19-year-old. Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a replacement for Mousa Dembele who has been tipped to leave Tottenham next summer, but Elmas is more attacking and would be long-term thinking.

The midfielder signed a five-year deal with Fener and has been a regular in the starting lineup this season, making 21 appearances in all competitions, so he could make an instant impact with Spurs like Dele Alli did. That being said, however, Elmas has great technical ability, creativity and is a real threat in the final third. Dembele provided more substance than the former.

Tottenham may have to move fast to procure his signature as Real are keen on bring Elmas to the Santiago Bernabéu. It’s unknown if the Londoners will make their interest official by lodging a bid in January, however. Signing a creative midfielder may not be high on their lost of priorities.
