If you have a Kodi set-box box with add-ons and you watch live Premier League matches for FREE or, you rely on watching England’s top-tier football on illegal internet streams then you can expect a screen near you to go blank, with immediate effect.

A British Court Order obtained by the Premier League means anyone with access to the illegal Kodi system, or you watch the games via pirate internet sites (doesn’t matter in which country they are based) will have to shut down or the person(s) responsible can expect a hefty fine, and or prison.

This means Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have the onus placed on them to switch off any illegal streaming or face prosecution themselves.

Every country in the world, bar North Korea has broadcasters who pay the Premier League vast sums to broadcast live games or highlights, and of course the bosses at the PL want to protect themselves, financially from the hackers.

Here in the UK subscription channels the like of SKY and BT pay billions of pounds for the privilege and we as subscribers, including your truly pay a small fortune every month to view.

Sky TV comment

A Sky spokesperson said…

‘We are pleased the English Premier League’s application to crack down on illegal streaming has been granted.

‘Content piracy is theft and the success of this application is an important step in tackling the issue.

‘It’s in the interests of both consumers and everyone working in the creative industries that we all take piracy seriously.

‘We’ll continue to work with rights holders, government, online market places and content creators to tackle today’s piracy and make people aware of the risks it presents and the damage it causes.’

Finally…

Good riddance to the pirates, good riddance to illegal streaming and ‘bravo’ for common sense.
