Tottenham Hotspur couldn’t afford to have one eye on our upcoming midweek Champions League second leg Semi-Final clash with Ajax, as Saturday’s trip to Dean Court to face Bournemouth was the opportunity to secure our top four spot and a European adventure next season.
With plenty of injury issues at this moment in time, manager Mauricio Pochettino could again call on both Vincent Janssen and Son Heung-Min to bolster our attacking options.
So there were high hopes, but we seemed intent on making life difficult for ourselves. We went into the halftime break goalless, but we were reduced to ten men in the 43rd minute as Sonny saw a straight red for a shove and after some changes at the break and the introduction of Juan Foyth and Victor Wanyama, our young Argentine made life even harder, gaining a straight red card of his own two minutes after his introduction.
Down to ten men with over 40 minutes still to play.
The hosts better dominated and the inevitable happened in stoppage-time and Nathan Ake gave them the advantage.
All eyes to the other fixtures now and then Ajax and Everton.
