Borussia Dortmund will be our main rivals in signing Red Bull Salzburg forward Hwang Hee-chan, according to the Salzburger Nachrichten (via Sport Witness).
The Austrian newspaper reports the German club will look to offer €15m (£13m) for the South Korean international. We were also mentioned in the report as a major contender for the 22-year-old’s signature.
Earlier this month, the Evening Standard reported we were tracking the striker, with the player keen to link up with his compatriot Son Heung-Min.
Our interest in Hwang pretty much came out of the blue. Although he has performed well for Salzburg this season, helping the Austria side to the semi-finals of the Europa League, his stats are nothing to write home about.
This campaign has seen him score just five league goals in 20 appearances despite playing as a central striker. He has hit double figures in all competitions, but we would likely be signing potential rather than the end product if we do win the race for him.
