Spurs striker tipped for golden boot success in Qatar

|

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is looking to break World Cup history in Qatar and become the first ever player to win back-to-back golden boots.

The Three Lions start their World Cup campaign on Monday against Iran, with Gareth Southgate’s men hoping to go that one step further and land there first major trophy since 1966.

Although many fans doubt England’s chances, Kane is many people’s pick for the golden boot, with the forward heading into the tournament as the bookies favourite (according to bet365) – ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi and its clear to see why. The England skipper is one of Europe’s most clinical strikers this season – having scored 12 goals in 15 league games so far this season.

Despite all the golden boot predictions, Kane has insisted winning the World Cup is still his main priority. Kane (via The Lions’ Den show):

“It is not the main thing I’m going for, but I know if I do end up with the Golden Boot, it will be good for the team… a good bonus.

“I’m excited, a World Cup is a special occasion. I think for most professionals it is the biggest tournament you can play in as a player, and I have been lucky enough to do one and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.”

Will Harry Kane win the World Cup golden boot?

YES

NO

The Spurs man is also no stranger to scoring on the biggest stage, having scored ten goals in his last two major tournaments. Six of those goals coming four years ago in Russia, a tournament in which Kane tipped players such as Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo to the golden boot crown.

The England skipper will have to be firing on all cylinders if the Three Lions have any chance of securing World Cup glory in Doha.
