Spurs striker ‘all good’ for World Cup clash with USA

This morning, Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate provided a positive update for England fans as he confirmed Harry Kane will be “all good” for the USA game, on Friday night.

The Tottenham star went down holding his ankle early in the second half against Iran on Monday – but managed to play on for a further 25 minutes, later being substituted for Callum Wilson.

Kane, of course is no stranger to ankle injuries having missed 146 days of football over the past five years due to numerous ankle problems.

Fans were then left worried as on Tuesday, it was confirmed by David Ornstein that Kane would have to undergo a scan on his ankle to assess the severity of the injury.

Luckily for England fans, the scan brought good news as Gareth Southgate confirmed Kane’s fitness in an interview with ITV:

“We just checked him out just to see. I think, sometimes, when you’re treating things, it’s important to know exactly what is there and that was all good.

“It’s not so much the ankle, it’s more the foot. It was a poor challenge, really, but I think it’s one that, fortunately, we’ve got away with reasonably lightly.

Kane’s availability is a massive boost for England’s World Cup hopes as he was instrumental in his sides 6-2 demolition of Iran on Monday. As despite not getting on the scoresheet, Kane managed to provide two assists for his teammates.

The Spurs man will now hope to add some goals to those assists and open his World Cup tally against the Americans, this Friday.
