Spurs striker ‘all good’ for World Cup clash with USA

|

This morning, Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate provided a positive update for England fans as he confirmed Harry Kane will be “all good” for the USA game, on Friday night.

The Tottenham star went down holding his ankle early in the second half against Iran on Monday – but managed to play on for a further 25 minutes, later being substituted for Callum Wilson.

Kane, of course is no stranger to ankle injuries having missed 146 days of football over the past five years due to numerous ankle problems.

Fans were then left worried as on Tuesday, it was confirmed by David Ornstein that Kane would have to undergo a scan on his ankle to assess the severity of the injury.

Luckily for England fans, the scan brought good news as Gareth Southgate confirmed Kane’s fitness in an interview with ITV:

“We just checked him out just to see. I think, sometimes, when you’re treating things, it’s important to know exactly what is there and that was all good.

“It’s not so much the ankle, it’s more the foot. It was a poor challenge, really, but I think it’s one that, fortunately, we’ve got away with reasonably lightly.

Kane’s availability is a massive boost for England’s World Cup hopes as he was instrumental in his sides 6-2 demolition of Iran on Monday. As despite not getting on the scoresheet, Kane managed to provide two assists for his teammates.

The Spurs man will now hope to add some goals to those assists and open his World Cup tally against the Americans, this Friday.

Richarlison two goals today for Brasil. MofM. COYS.

play Kane as midfielder and Richarlison as central attacker.

He doesn’t work hard enough or put in the required tackles to play in midfield. We would have to change to 442 to accommodate both with Son and Kulu playing as traditional wingers. This will never happen under Conte.

  • Geofspurs says:

That’s true,TQ. He spends most of the game waiting for a through ball that rarely arrives. Unlike Kane, he won’t drop back to get possession and help his team.

Wow. An actual interaction on a VS thread. Is there hope?

  • TK says:

England looked quite weak vs USA, Not a good sign for England going far in the cup.
