Spurs midfielder surprisingly linked with Italian giants

|

Tottenham youngster Oliver Skipp may be set for a shock switch to Inter Milan, that is according to Italian publication CalcioMercatoWeb who states Tottenham’s move for Franck Kessie may path the way for Skipp to pack his bags and head to Italy.

Skipp, who made his Spurs debut way back in 2018, has struggled with injuries in the past 12 months, with foot and pelvic problems preventing him from featuring regularly.

Since returning from injury, Skipp has only managed to rack up 217 minutes of football so far this season (via Transfermarkt), with Spurs stalwarts Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg keeping the youngster out of the starting 11.

So, if Spurs were to move for Franck Kessie in the January window, you wouldn’t blame Skipp if he wanted to move elsewhere to find more minutes.

Inter Milan is one of the clubs interested in the midfielder and you can understand why, with the 22-year-old possessing some real talent in holding midfield. Inter’s current holding midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is integral to how the side play but has just turned 30 years old so the Italian giants may look to future-proof their side and add a younger addition in that position.

The links may also be strengthened by the fact Spurs are chasing a number of Inter players, namely Denzel Dumfries and Alessandro Bastoni, so Skipp may potentially be used as a make-way in any potential deal.

From a fan’s viewpoint, I really do hope Skipp remains at the club as it is always a sad day to see a talented academy graduate leave the club.
