Spurs Man Set For Late Fitness Test Ahead Of Burnley – “Everyone Knows (He’s) An Animal”

|

With Tottenham Hotspur’s eyes set firmly on this Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor to face off against Sean Dyche’s Burnley side, build up to the game has naturally intensified, and with news of a possible return for England’s Harry Kane, that’s certainly added an extra gear to things.

Meeting with the media yesterday to discuss the upcoming match, manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that he could potentially be in his plans for the game, and whilst he didn’t give much away in terms of a spot in the starting XI or a presumed more cautious approach and a place on the substitutes bench, he did tell Sky Sports that his final decision would wait until our 25-year-old had undergone a late fitness test ahead of the game.

“He is very good. I think we need to assess him in tomorrow’s training session and then decide. But I think he’s doing well, I’m happy with him and maybe he’s going to be available to be part of the squad for Saturday. I don’t think he’s ahead of schedule but everyone knows Harry is an animal. He wanted to be ready as soon as possible and he did everything to recover. The injury he suffered is tough to recover from but we are so happy that in the last 10 days he was fantastic in training and can be available again – it will have a massive impact for everyone.”

Having been back in full group training since Monday at the beginning of the week, there’s certainly no reason to risk Harry given our Premier League form in his absence if there’s even a niggling doubt over his ankle ligament injury, and in many ways I think – if he was to be involved – I’d prefer him being on the bench and stepping up gently as a late substitute as opposed to being thrown straight back in.

Especially in light of the opposition we face in the next few matches.
