Spurs Have ‘Established Informal Contacts” In Bid To Sign Portuguese Flyer

|

Following on from the Mirror‘s report on Wednesday, Portuguese tabloid Record has confirmed that the club are pursuing Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins.

The newspaper states that we have “established informal contacts” with his club in view to a summer transfer.

However, it is believed Mauricio Pochettino is only considering the 22-year-old as one of a number of possible targets to improve the wide areas.

As it was mentioned in the Mirror, it seems Poch is also still keen on Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Bordeaux’s Malcom, and all three are on a list of potential recruits.

Martins plays mostly on the right wing, and has 16 caps for the Portuguese national side. This campaign, he has scored 13 goals and contributed 12 assists in 48 appearances.

Our interest in a number of right-sided midfielders does put a question mark over Lucas Moura’s future. The Brazilian, who was signed from PSG for £25m, has started just one Premier League game since his arrival in January.
