Vital Spurs asked over the weekend if you would like to see the rumoured £7million arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy at White Hart Lane?

The result was an overwhelming yes with 85% saying the player was quality. Only 15% said no thanks and they were probably Manchester United fans!

Here are some of the reactions from the readers of Vital Spurs:

thfc4eva doesn’t seem to believe the link as he says:

‘if ruud signs for us, i’ll eat my hat. not that i have one’

elmo85 agrees the link is tenuis but would like to see the Horseman arrive:

‘Cant see it myself? And £7m? They paid £20m for him in the first place, why would they sell him for £7m? Still though, be great to see him down the Lane playing for us next season.’

aaavoid has another target in mind:

‘Ruud is past it. Buy the next Dutch superstar-to-be Dirk Kuyt. Still lots more playing years ahead of the expiring Ruud.’

2rude said:

‘7m for Ruud’s a good price. Man u paid 20m for him and he’s their top goal scorer. I say trade in the out of form (he’s capable of much more but doesn’t seem at home with us) Defoe to Liverpool for £10m and buy Ruud for £7m. I agree Dirk Kuyt would be good but we keep trying and never get him. Ruud’s a proven performer and working with fellow countrymen Jol and the pitbull I think he’ll be awesome.’

YID4LIFE cames up with the best punn of the day!

”It would be Ruud to say no for a striker of his talent, probably just another rumour what next Shevchencko on a free !!’

Shevchencko? Really? Blimey, must get a story up!! 😉

Frank dismisses the rumour out of hand:

‘Here we go again. Do we seriously believe that were Ruud available at all, wish has to be doubtful, that he would come to us with all the interest that would come from Spain, Italy and of course Holland. I also think that we should stop dreaming about Kuyt, he isn’t going to happen either. Based on yet another cock up down our right hand side yesterday that has again cost us a 90th minute sickener a greater priority might be to sign a half decent right back to replace Stuttereri. ‘

Mattywilso agrees:

‘In all honesty, Ruud wouldn’t come Tottenham, Dutch connection or not. Like someone said at the top, Juventus, Madrid, Milan and all the top clubs would be after him!’

Not sure how anyone can say Ruud Van Nistelrooy is past it, he has 19 Premiership goals so far this season + one in Europe and one in the league cup. Whether Spurs could attract him or not is another matter altogether, but one thing is for sure, whoever the targets for the summer are, qualifying for the Champions League is the best way to guarantee the cream of the crop.

Our latest poll, suggested by hotspur61, is asking what is to blame for the recent run of bad results.
