Spurs Didn’t Deserve That Late Blow As Liverpool Steal The Points – Match Stats

|

With the March international break allowing Tottenham Hotspur to draw a line under three defeats and a draw, the aim earlier today was to get back to winning ways as we travelled to Anfield to face Liverpool.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino would’ve been confident, although sensible going into the tie, as plenty was riding on it, but we know what Spurs are capable of when they fire and the travelling support was looking for another of those days.

It certainly didn’t start that way though as Roberto Firmino gave the hosts the lead 16 minutes in, but after a tactical tweak to our setup, we more worked our way into the game and a gritty performance once again saw us get our reward as Lucas Moura hit the leveller with 20 minutes remaining in the tie.

Neither side had great chances to be fair, but as the hosts pushed on inside of the final ten minutes, we caused problems of our own on the counter-attack and the difference in the performance between both halves was clear for all to see.

With the game seeming to turn in our direction, the sucker punch saw Toby Alderweireld credited with an own goal from a corner and the proverbial fat lady had sung.

Our second half showing didn’t deserve that.
