Spurs Among Trio Tracking £35m Rated La Liga Hitman

|

Valencia forward Rodrigo is a target for Tottenham and two other Premier League clubs, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website says that we will be joined in the race to sign him by Everton and Brighton. What makes the story short on credibility though is that the Spanish international`s price tag of ?40m (£35m) would be well beyond the likes of the Seagulls.

From a Spurs perspective though, the 27 year old would be an interesting option, especially if we do offload Fernando Llorente in the summer.

The Brazilian born striker has been in good form in La Liga this season with 16 goals and seven assists. He can play right across a front three which would suit our system perfectly, and he has now performing at the highest level of his career.

My major concern with signing the player would be the fact he has never been a prolific goalscorer. He is enjoying a purple patch at the moment, but his form could just as easily drop off. After signing for Valencia for £27m in 2015, he has scored just 34 times in 126 games.

On top of that too, you have to consider the fact that he only signed a new five year deal back in November with a ?120m release clause. He would cost a premium with no guarantee of the player maintaining his level. In my opinion, it would be a bit of a gamble to sign him.
