Earlier this evening Tottenham Hotspur were looking to do what most pundits thought was impossible, derail Manchester City’s trophy charge in the campaign of 2018/19.
With Pep Guardiola’s side continuing to fire on all fronts it was Champions League quarter-final action at the new White Hart Lane tonight and having got back to winning ways after our more recent slump, there were high hopes amongst some fans that manager Mauricio Pochettino would see his side pull off a fantastic first leg result.
With Sergio Aguero spurning a penalty chance early on in the game, the crowd took a lift and manager Mauricio Pochettino’s side put in a gritty and determined showing, and Son Heung-Min gave us the advantage we’d have wanted in the 78th minute as he opened up the scoring on the day.
The biggest concern on the day was seeing Harry Kane limp off in the second half, but fingers crossed that proves to be nothing more than a slight knock and a precautionary decision. But that may be being hugely optimistic.
The advantage is ours and that was the aim of the night.
