Shayon Harrison has an uncertain future at Tottenham. The 21-year-old has struggled for playing time under Mauricio Pochettino and has been loaned out in each of the last three seasons to get regular first-team football. Harrison has made only one appearance for Spurs, but the Lilywhites are still keen to keep him.
According to Alasdair Gold of Football.London, Tottenham have put a new contract ‘on the table’ for the striker, but whether he signs it remains to be seen. Since rising through the youth ranks to the fringes of the first-team, Harrison has made more appearances during loan spells at Yeovil Town (January 20, 2017 – February 20, 2017), Southend United (January 31, 2018 – May 31, 2018) and Melbourne City (February 1, 2019 – June 30, 2019).
His stint at Melbourne saw him contribute five goals in 11 games which should impress any Tottenham scouts monitoring his progress. With Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Fernando Llorente and Lucas Moura ahead of Harrison in the pecking order, however, first-team chances may be few and far between next season.
As a result, the 21-year-old could opt against extending his stay at Tottenham as he’s nearly 22 and remains on the periphery.
