Report: Tottenham will have to make ‘big offer’ to sign ‘popular’ Monaco youngster

According to Julian Maynard of Telefoot, Tottenham will have to make a ‘big offer’ to sign Benoît Badiashile this summer. The 18-year-old is ‘popular’ with Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Monaco vice-president Oleg Petrov has little intention on cashing in.

As per Transfermarkt, Badiashile signed a professional contract last summer and has gone on to make 26 appearances in all competitions for Monaco, scoring and creating two goals. The French u19 international featured 20 times in Ligue 1 last season and is clearly rated highly by the club.

Monaco won’t want to lose such a talented player with a bright future, but the three interested English clubs may have success in signing Badiashile if they’re willing to loosen the pursestrings. The centre-back currently has a market value of over £8m, but it may take a bid in excess of that figure to get Monaco’s attention.

Badiashile does appear happy to stay at the Stade Louis II for another season, however, which could close the door on a transfer. If Monaco struggle in Ligue 1 again this season, maybe he’ll consider his options.
