Report: Spurs star set to join Euro giants in ‘the next few days’ after agreeing £260k-a-week deal

Christian Eriksen’s time at Tottenham is slowly drawing to a close after the Danish playmaker reportedly agreed to a deal to join Inter Milan this month.

Fabrizio Romano reports via The Guardian that the Spurs midfielder is set to join Inter in ‘the next few days’ after agreeing to a £260,000-a-week deal with the Serie A giants, with Daniel Levy keen to accumulate as much as €20m (£16.8m) in transfer fees for the 27-year-old Tottenham star.

Eriksen has long been linked with a move away from Tottenham after the former Ajax star admitted to The Telegraph that he wanted to leave the club after six years of service which saw the Danish attacking midfielder guide Spurs to regular top-four finishes in the Premier League as well as their first Champions League final ever.

Despite the growing sense that the Dane will leave the club, Eriksen has remained a staple in the Tottenham first-team this season even with the appointment of Jose Mourinho, with stats from Transfermarkt showing that the creative midfielder has played 28 games in all competitions for the north London club, scoring three and assisting three during that time.

Eriksen won’t be the first Premier League play Inter sign this month, with the Nerazzurri already confirming the signings of Manchester United captain Ashley Young and Chelsea fullback Victor Moses to add to their summer signings of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Spurs will be happy with themselves in getting some money out of the sale for Eriksen, yet the club will know that they could have recouped more for the Danish midfielder had they approached last summer in a different manner, which could have seen Tottenham and Levy make a big profit on the 27-year-old playmaker.
