Report: Spurs chief facing ‘growing unrest’ amongst stars for old-school and uninspiring methods

Jose Mourinho is facing problems of ‘growing unrest’ amongst some of his Tottenham stars who are beginning to become dismayed by the Portuguese manager’s tactics and training sessions.

According to The Sun, several senior Spurs players are starting to believe that the former Manchester United boss has regressed the team since joining in November and that old-school tactics and uninspiring training methods have led to some stars questioning Mourinho’s abilities to take the club forward.

The Portuguese coach was brought in to replace Mauricio Pochettino in November, but despite Mourinho’s reputation and previous successes in the Premier League, the former Real Madrid boss has failed to set the world alight in north London.

At the time of writing, Spurs sit eighth in the Premier League table and nine points behind Chelsea in fourth, with Tottenham suffering some major problems over the past few weeks that have derailed Mourinho’s goal of getting the club back into the top-four.

Harry Kane is set to be out until April at the earliest as reported by the club’s official website, and the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Hugo Lloris remain out on the injury table as per Football London, yet this report of senior players being dismayed by Mourinho’s training methods and tactics is a worrying sign for supporters.

Mourinho was seen as the shining beacon that could lead the club to silverware after nearly a decade of no trophies, but if the players are not on the same wavelength as their new boss, Tottenham will find it difficult to not only end their barren run but also to qualify for the Champions League, which a club of their stature should be aiming for.
