Report: Fenerbahce keen on £65k-per-week Tottenham man, club director to hold talks this week

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Fenerbahce are interested in Victor Wanyama. The 28-year-old could be on his way out of Tottenham this summer after falling down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino. Wanyama has struggled for form, playing time and fitness in recent years and may have to leave to get first-team football.

The £65k-per-week midfielder could hold talks with Fenerbahce director Damien Comolli this week – the club chief is in England for talks with Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke. Wanyama may be open to joining the Turkish outfit if Pochettino can’t promise him opportunities next season, having amassed only 838 minutes of Premier League football in 2017/18 and 509 in 2018/19, but there’s been no official bid from Fener as of yet.

The Kenyan international is already on the periphery with Spurs and will have even more competition in 2019/20. Pochettino will have Tanguy Ndombele, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Oliver Skipp at his disposal, and could be completing a deal for Giovani Lo Celso this week. Wanyama was once a regular with Spurs, but the Lilywhites won’t miss the 28-year-old anymore.
