Report: Tottenham closing in on another summer signing

|

According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Ryan Sessegnon. Spurs will pay £20m for his signature and Fulham could use that money to bring in Josh Onomah and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. The report doesn’t say Onomah and N’Koudou are part of the deal, but the duo may be offloaded for a cut-price to Fulham.

Sessegnon’s arrival will raise doubt over Danny Rose’s long-term future at the club, however. Despite reports suggesting the 29-year-old could stay if he doesn’t find the right project, it’s hard to see how Mauricio Pochettino would manage Rose, Sessegnon and Ben Davies all fighting for one place in the side next season.

Davies is expected to be first-choice at left-back and Sessegnon will likely be his understudy. The 19-year-old has made a total of 120 appearances for Fulham in all competitions, scoring and creating 43 goals. He can operate at left-back, left-midfield and as a left-sided forward. Sessegnon has briefly played on the right for Fulham too.

The Telegraph doesn’t mention if Ryan’s brother Steven will be part of the deal, however. The young right-back was on Tottenham’s radar and would be included in any deal for Ryan, but it’s unknown if that still is the case.
