Report: £3.15m-rated European hero rejects latest Spurs offer

Fernando Llorente has rejected Tottenham’s latest offer to re-sign the striker following his release from the club.

Football Insider report that the Premier League side have offered the Spanish attacker a new deal in an attempt to lure the former Juventus striker back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Llorente has declined this latest advance from Spurs due to the reduced terms.

This is the second deal Llorente has rejected from Spurs since leaving the club as a free agent, with the 34-year-old attracting interest from clubs in both Spain and Italy despite playing largely as a squad player during his time with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Looking at the numbers from Transfermarkt, a site that values the veteran attacker at just £3.15m, Llorente only managed 13 goals and 6 assists for Spurs in 66 games for the north London side, however, the attacker did pop up with some of the club’s most important strikes last season.

Llorente scored in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League round of 16, and in the quarter-finals of the same competition the former Swansea City star struck the pivotal goal against Manchester City in a 4-4 aggregate win on away goals that would send Spurs into the semi-finals and ultimately the final in Madrid.

With Vincent Janssen also leaving Spurs this summer to join Monterrey in Mexico, Spurs headed into the new Premier League season with just Harry Kane as the club’s only natural striker, hence why Pochettino has remained adamant to re-sign Llorente with a Champions League campaign beckoning over the horizon.
