Report: 28 y/o ace seen as ‘last-gasp’ option for Spurs despite 80% discount Levy refuses to meet

Willian Jose is reportedly a ‘last-gasp’ option for Tottenham as the club continue to search for an attacker that could replace Harry Kane for the second half of the season.

Football Insider claims that the Real Sociedad striker will only be approached by Tottenham if the club fail to sign any of their other attacking targets even with the La Liga side valuing the 28-year-old forward at just £12m, a price Daniel Levy refuses to pay despite the Willian Jose’s release clause being at £59m as reported by The Guardian.

Spurs have been frantically searching for a target man this month after it was revealed by the club’s official website that Kane will be out until April at the earliest, with the likes of AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek and FC Porto forward Ze Luis all being reported with moves to north London this January window.

Should we sign Willian Jose?

Yes

No

With Jose Mourinho on the hunt for a striker who can replace the physicality Kane has left in the Tottenham frontline, it makes sense as to why Spurs are considering a move for Willian Jose, with the 6’2” striker being a consistent goalscorer for Sociedad over the past four seasons.

As stats from Transfermarkt show, the Brazilian striker has hit 10+ goals in his previous three seasons with the Basque Country club, with Willian Jose already on eight for this campaign as Sociedad sit eighth in the La Liga table, above the likes of Valencia and Villarreal.

The Brazilians striker would make for a fine replacement for Kane, with Willian Jose showing over the past few seasons to be a consistent goalscorer in one of Europe’s best leagues, but this update could be worrying news for the club if Levy is unwilling to accept Sociedad’s nearly 80% discount for the target man, and Spurs could be kicking themselves this time next week for failing to get a deal done for the La Liga attacker.
