Pochettino Reveals His “Gut” Feeling On Kane’s Chances For Champions League Final

|

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been discussing the potential chances for a Harry Kane return to contention should Tottenham Hotspur make it all the way through to the Champions League Final this year.

With our 25-year-old striker suffering a second ‘significant’ ankle ligament injury in the season of 2018/19, most fans I think want the England man to be given the complete summer off so he can put the problem behind him and come back properly fresh for the next season, but everyone knows Kane wants to play so if there’s a chance he can return, he undoubtedly will.

Although Pochettino admitted there were no guarantees and it was truly his ‘gut’ feeling about the striker as he spoke to Sky Sports, he explained.

“I hope yes. He is doing well but today I cannot guess. It can be before [June 1] that he is available, or after. That will depend on his reaction. Now he is in a very good period and he is going forward quickly but always there is the last moment which is the more difficult situation for the decision, to play or not. If you said to me today, my gut is ‘maybe’ because I know Harry Kane’s determination to work and be focused to make his recovery as soon as possible. But I am not a doctor, this is only my gut.”

If he’s progressing well, that will boost those who are hoping to see him once again before the end of the current campaign given our other options when it comes to leading the line, but it still feels the wiser option to let him have a break.
