‘Phenomenal’, ‘Left me speechless’ – some fans hail Tottenham midfielder after UCL triumph

|

Tanguy Ndombele returned to the starting lineup for Tottenham against Crvena zvezda and was a standout performer as Spurs won 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Supporters hailed his contribution on social media and are excited by his potential. The 22-year-old started alongside Moussa Sissoko in midfield and had a hand in two goals over the 90 minutes.

Ndombele’s first assist saw him turnover possession in the middle of the park and run 30 yards with the ball before feeding Heung-min Son to finish from close range (3-0). His second assist saw him collect the ball in space and put a through ball in to Harry Kane who passed into the back of the net.

Against Crvena zvezda, the French international made 78 touches, created three chances, had one shot on target, made two interceptions, completed 90.6% of his 64 passes and made three tackles.

Ndombele has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating five goals. Tottenham have struggled for form across the board, but the box-to-box midfielder has continued to impress regardless.

He’ll be key for Spurs ahead of Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool, so Mauricio Pochettino will be happy to see Ndombele in fine form.
