Tottenham`s Roman Pavlyuchenko has claimed that he could be tempted to look to move away from White Hart Lane in a bid to play regular first team football.

It would appear that Pav is the clubs 4th choice striker at this time and with the form of Defoe and Keane, anything more than a late appearance from the bench is perhaps all the player could expect so far this season, but this is seemingly not enough for Pav, who for the first time has hinted at a Spurs exit, rather than a positive stance to fight for his place.

Speaking to Russian paper, Sport Express, he said: ‘No footballer likes being on the bench game after game. I could lose my place in the Russia squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

‘I’m ready now to listen to offers from other clubs.’

Whether the next thing we will hear is that there is confirmed interest for the player and that he is flattered by their interest. Blah, blah blah… We will have to wait for the remaining few days of the window, but although I understand Pav is keen to look after No1, he also has to appreciate that Harry was right to stick with a winning team and it is only fair that he has to fight for a place.

Personally I believe that if Spurs were offered their money back they would take the sale of the player, even at the risk of leaving ourselves a little short (in more ways than one) in strikers. Having money in the bank for his own choice of players may well appeal to Harry and he may well take the gamble on having three established strikers and look at others, such as Gio or the emerging Jon Obika as emergency alternatives.

Roma have of course been long-time admirers, but there remain question marks over whether they have the funds to buy Pav or any other box office signing, although it is clear that they want a big name to keep the fans happy.

With Robbie and Jermain, proving the doubters wrong and they can play together, Harry may well feel more confident that he can cash in, if of course a clubs makes a suitable offer. We shall just have to wait and see, wont we…
