Palace To Steal Young Tottenham Talent Next Summer

|

It’s been reported this week that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to let young Nigerian defender Jubril Okedina leave this summer when his Scholarship at the club naturally expires, and Crystal Palace are named as one of three clubs who have already apparently expressed an interest in adding the 18-year-old to their youth ranks, if we don’t, in fact, offer him fresh terms.

The claim comes from All Nigeria Soccer and my knowledge at Under 18 level isn’t great, but the London born youngster has come through our ranks in recent times and penned his Scholarship terms ahead of the 2017/18 campaign as we continued to keep an eye on his development.

He has unfortunately only made 14 appearances according to the report in the last two years but he’s been hit with a long term injury, although he has featured in our UEFA Youth League campaign and made the step up to our Under 23s in their Premier League 2 campaign this season.

Palace, Swansea City and Ipswich Town are the namechecked clubs with having an interest in him, and with Spurs ready to let him go, it’s claimed provisional talks have already been held over his future.

Those who keep a closer eye on that level will a greater opinion on the decision to let him go, but I suspect the injury may be the driver here – in terms of our pathway and pecking order – but hopefully the lad will make up for lost time in a fresh setting.
