It is official that Tottenham’s Teemu Tainio is officially a Sunderland player and will be followed out of the Spurs exit door by Pascal Chimbonda and Paul Robinson in the next 24 hours.

Tainio has signed for the Black Cats on a three year deal and is hoped to be the first of the four Spurs to Sunderland buys over the coming days.

Roy Keane spoke of his delight at getting the Finnish international when he said:

I’m delighted to sign a player of Teemu’s experience and quality, He’ll be a valuable addition to our squad.’

‘Teemu has showed versatility, playing in different midfield positions for both Tottenham and his previous club Auxerre.’

‘But his experience, in particular, and the fact he has played more than 40 international games shows he has a lot to offer Sunderland.’<

I follow the thoughts of many Spurs fans in being disappointed but realistic at his departure and I think he will be a superb signing for Sunderland.

We are still awaiting confirmation of Pascal Chimbonda signing on the dotted line, but it appears it is simply a matter of time.

Also on the move is Paul Robinson, who has agreed to join Blackburn in a £3.5 million deal which should be confirmed very shortly.

The Robinson deal hasn’t been linked as part of the David Bentley deal ‘YET’ but I have no doubts that this will all be resolved by Friday, once Spurs have returned from Spain.

One possible hitch in the four man deal for Roy Keane could be the move of Sully Muntari from Pompey to Inter Milan. Portsmouth want a quick deal, so they can spend the £12 million fee on new players, notably Younes Kaboul and Shaun Wright Phillips.

Personally I would be happy to see kaboul join either Pompey or Sunderland, just please make it quick…….
