Opinion: Tottenham won’t sell 26-year-old to AC Milan, here’s why

|

Serge Aurier looked on his way out of Tottenham over the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements, but Mauricio Pochettino has made a complete U-turn on the 26-year-old which is bad news for AC Milan.

According to Sportmediaset, the Serie A giants have been showing an interest in Aurier and may have been planning an approach at the next transfer window. The Ivorian international has gone from being an outcast to a regular in the first-team, however, so it’s hard to see Tottenham selling him.

At the start of the season, Aurier was an unused substitute in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa (August 10), let out of the matchday squad in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City (August 17) and 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United (August 25) and was left on the bench in Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Arsenal (September 1).

He’s since started consecutive Premier League games and impressed in both. With Kyle Walker-Peters & Juan Foyth being eased back to full fitness, Aurier has a chance to make the right-back spot his own at Tottenham, so Milan might have missed their chance to try and sign him.
