Opinion: Tottenham should sign highly-rated left-midfielder, could be available in July

|

According to the Daily Express, Manchester United are planning a £50m move for Ryan Sessegnon and could make an offer for the Fulham left-midfielder this summer. The 18-year-old has an uncertain future at Craven Cottage as he’s been short of form and playing time and has yet to put pen to paper on a contract extension.

Tottenham have been linked with Sessegnon in the past and should consider a move for the England u21 international this summer as he could be a fantastic addition to the squad. Despite previously playing left-back and left wing-back for the Cottagers, Sessegnon is more of a winger who can affect the game in the final third far more than in the defensive third.

He’s lost his starting place for Fulham in recent weeks, racking up just 102 minutes of playing time in their last four Premier League outings, and may be on the move if his side get relegated as expected this season. Tottenham could capitalise on the situation if they’re willing to meet his asking price.

Sessegnon has bags of potential and would surely flourish under Mauricio Pochettino. The Premier League campaign ends in May, but Fulham are unlikely to make decisions on players until everybody returns for pre-season in July.
