Explained: What is Tottenham’s transfer-target worth? What are his salary demands?

|

Tottenham are battling Arsenal to procure the signature of Matthias Ginter, according to Sky Sports, with Mauricio Pochettino eyeing up a centre-back to potentially replace one of Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld. Ginter has made 55 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Monchengladbach since joining the Bundesliga side from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

The 25-year-old, who rose through the SC Freiburg youth ranks, is a regular at Gladbach, making 16 Bundesliga appearances this season.  Ginter has also represented the German national team on 23 occasions and still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his deal at BORUSSIA-PARK. Tottenham have been linked with the defender for some time and he may not break the bank to sign.

CIES value Ginter at £24m and the centre-back currently earns £26K-per-week (£1.3m-a-year), according to Capology. He’d be in line for payrise to move from Gladbach, but his salary demands are more than affordable for Tottenham. So if Mauricio Pochettino loses Vertonghen or Alderweireld, Ginter could be a relatively cheap replacement this summer.

He’s composed in possession, a good reader of the game and in seldom beaten in a one-on-one. Ginter wins 61%  of his aerial duels, blocks a shot every 99 minutes and only gives away a foul every 174 minutes.
