Opinion: Key reason why Tottenham won’t sign left-winger, deal makes no sense

|

According to Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham are leading the race to sign Ivan Perisic. The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from Inter Milan despite being a regular at the San Siro. Perisic was reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League during the January transfer window and is hoping he’ll be able to make the switch this summer.

Manchester United and Arsenal are two sides who have been frequently linked with the Croatian international, but Tuttosport believe he’s nailed on to join Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to procure his signature, however, as it would be a bad business decision. The left-winger is 30 years of age and has little resale value.

He also wouldn’t come cheap as he has three-and-a-half years on his deal with the Nerazzurri, so they have no reason to let him go for cheap – CIES value him at £46.6m Perisic hasn’t been in any form this season either, scoring just three goals and making only two assists in 20 Serie A games. It’s hard to see Tottenham signing the winger this summer as a result.

With Heung-min Son, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal, Perisic isn’t needed.
