Opinion: Daniel Levy’s stance on 18 y/o starlet might not go down well with Jose Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott has only made two Premier League appearances in his career but chairman Daniel Levy has high hopes for him.

According to the Telegraph, the club official is convinced that the 18-year-old can save him millions in the transfer market as he is excited by Parrott’s potential. The report adds that Levy is excited about the array of young players coming through the academy, and will ask manager Jose Mourinho to continue developing his players.

The club chairman is pleased to see Japhet Tanganga and Harry Winks kick on with their development. But has big faith in Parrott, who has made a difficult start to life at Spurs.

Should Spurs persevere with Troy Parrott?

Yes

No

Mourinho, who had spells at Chelsea and Manchester United, is not known for progressing young players and famously referred to the youth of today as “spoilt kids“.

There is also the prospect that star striker Harry Kane could be sold in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. If Levy stands by his word and demands him to persevere with Parrott, there could be a boardroom fallout like no other.

In the nicest possible way, Mourinho likes to complain. Most famously, he was unhappy with his Manchester United squad during his final pre-season in charge, admitting that he would not pay to watch his own team. Ultimately, he was sacked six months later after and could go down the same route due to Levy’s ruthless streak, particularly with Mauricio Pochettino.

We all know Daniel Levy does what he wants to. But if he wants the Portuguese tactician to succeed, he must be willing to play ball with the boss. Mourinho is not shy of giving his opinion and could be out of a job if the chairman has his way.
