Opinion: 27-year-old could leave Spurs for £60m, 25-year-old replacement available for £53m

|

Tottenham may have to shop for a replacement for Christian Eriksen, with the 27-year-old being linked with a move to Real Madrid and Manchester United. The Danish international could reportedly fetch £60m this summer, but who should Spurs sign with that money?

The Lilywhites continue being linked with Nabil Fekir, but his asking price was always too steep for them to consider an approach. Eriksen’s sale could open the door to a move, however, as Tottenham can now afford to meet his £53m valuation and £60k-per-week wages.

Fekir has made 29 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring and creating 16 goals. The 25-year-old has made 51 chances, 47 successful dribbles (57%), averaged 34 passes-per-game with 85% accuracy and whipped in 79 crosses with 38% accuracy.

He has the attributes to replace Eriksen and would surely be open to joining a top-four Premier League club who are 90 minutes away from winning a Champions League title, but whether he’s on Tottenham’s wishlist remains to be seen.

The club will be desperate to keep Eriksen and may not consider a replacement until his future is resolved. Strengthening their attack isn’t the number one priority this summer either – centre-back and central midfield are.
