Official: Youngster leaves Tottenham, ‘agreement reached’ with Spanish club

Tottenham confirm that Samuel Shashoua has left the club on a permanent deal and signed for CD Tenerife of the Spanish Segunda Division. Spurs ‘reached (an) agreement’ of £90k for Tenerife to pay. The 20-year-old failed to make a first-team appearance for Spurs but did make the matchday squad on one occasion – Leicester (Premier League) on May 18, 2017.

Shashoua has been in the u23s ever since, however, due to stiff competition from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela. A lack of opportunity at senior-level led to the attacking-midfielder seeking a loan move away to continue his development – Atletico Baleares (August 26, 2018 – June 30, 2019).

He scored and created 11 goals in 38 games for the Segunda Division B team which must have caught the attention of Tenerife. The Chicharreros finished 16th last season and averaged less than a goal a game (40 goals in 42 league matches), so they may have been on the hunt for more creativity. This is a big chance for Shashoua to prove his worth in Spain.

The 20-year-old already impressed for Baleares in 2018/19, but time will tell if he can deliver at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
