Official: 5 reserve players leave Tottenham this summer, Ogilvie released

Tottenham confirmed on Friday that five reserve-team players had been released – Dylan Duncan, Charlie Freeman, Tom Glover, Connor Ogilvie and Jamie Reynolds. Japhet Tanganga and Jack Roles extended their contracts with Spurs until 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Duncan was a regular in midfield for the u23s last season but clearly didn’t develop at a fast enough rate to stay at Tottenham. The 20-year-old was promoted from the u18s in 2017 but failed to make a first-team appearance.  He did feature in the EFL Trophy three times, however.

Freeman spent last season on the periphery, failing to make an appearance for the u23s. The 19-year-old goalkeeper was an unused substitute early on before finding himself out of the matchday squad entirely. He didn’t make a single outing at u23-level.

Ogilvie had been sent out on numerous loans (Stevenage, Gillingham) to continue his development with first-team football, but he wasn’t close to making a senior outing at Tottenham. The 23-year-old found himself behind Danny Rose and Ben Davies in the pecking order and didn’t make an appearance before his departure.

Reynolds racked up only 159 minutes of Premier League 2 football last season, spending the majority of the campaign on the periphery. The 19-year-old left-back didn’t feature again for the u23s since January so his departure wasn’t a surprise.
