“Not What We Need” – Mourinho’s Recent Words Will Disappoint Plenty Of Spurs Fans

|

With Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles continuing under new manager Jose Mourinho, plenty of fans were hoping to see a rebuild of the playing squad over the summer as our weaknesses have been laid bare for all to see and the recent defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League was a good example of that.

Do Spurs Need To Start Again Or Is Mourinho Right?

Need A Complete Rebuild

No, He's Right, We Just Need Key Tweaks

Losing 3-2 on the day at White Hart Lane, despite taking the lead twice, speaking to Sky Sports during the build up to our midweek FA Cup clash with Norwich City, Mourinho confirmed that he would be looking to make some small changes during the summer transfer window, but for the those fans looking to see wholescale changes, he’s ruled out having that kind of window already.

“There will not be massive changes. First of all, because that is not what we need, secondly because that is not the profile of the club and thirdly because of what the market is. Year after year after year it’s more difficult so I’m not thinking about an overhaul at the moment. But of course, we need to make our squad better.”

His comment about the ‘profile of the club’ shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone…when Jose was appointed one of the big questions was whether he’d change his approach or whether Spurs as a club would, and he hasn’t been shy in admitting that he wouldn’t be a chequebook manager…but with 2020 not turning out to be much better than 2019, his words will definitely be met with disappointment.
