No time to reflect on stint as manager yet says Mason

Spurs interim manager Ryan Mason is gearing up for his final game in charge when Spurs face Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

The former midfielder took over from Jose Mourinho, who has since been named as the new manager at Roma, and has had a mixed spell in charge, winning 50% of the matches he has managed.

However, Mason has admitted he has not yet had the time to review his stint in charge ahead of potentially taking on another managerial role elsewhere, or returning to his job in the academy.

“I think that’s a question I’ll probably answer in the summer or later down the line when I actually do reflect,” said Mason. “At the moment my mind hasn’t really thought about it.

“As for the things you mentioned [questions on how Mason has dealt with issues], I respect you guys have got a job to do. I understand it. I’ve been involved in the media as well so I know what it’s like. It’s not a problem, it’s normal.

“The most important thing in this role is that we take care of things on the football pitch. We’ve had a short time on the pitch to try to change a lot of stuff, which we have. Unfortunately a few moments in games have gone against us.

“Ultimately you’re judged on results and Wednesday night was very disappointing. Not for me, I don’t have an ego, I’m doing this for Tottenham Hotspur and it was a disappointing evening for everyone at the club.

“The most important thing is that we bounce back at the weekend and in terms of me and my career, there’s been stuff I’ve learned and I’d be crazy and silly not to take some things but in terms of reflection, I think it’s something not to think about right now.”

Spurs take on Leicester on the final day of the season and can earn themselves a place in the Europa League with a win, while Leicester are still battling for a place in the Champions League.
