News: Former Tottenham star claims 23-year-old should be in national team

Jamie O’Hara believes that Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Winks should be in the England team – as he can become the country’s best midfielder.

O’Hara speaking on talkSPORT was adamant that Winks has something different to England’s other central midfield players and he could be the difference in big tournaments.

Winks is rated very highly by Mauricio Pochettino and has started every one of Spurs’ opening games.

He was arguably Tottenham’s best player in the North London derby and played a crucial role in the buildup to the second goal.

The 23-year-old has suffered from injury for the past few seasons, but he seems to have put all of this behind him and is looking to make a big impression in the Premier League.

Gareth Southgate has admitted that he is a fan of the Tottenham man and his ability to link the defence to the midfield is something that Southgate’s side have missed.

Back in October, Winks turned in a sublime performance for England as they beat Spain away 3-2. Display’s like this show what Winks is capable of and O’Hara may well be correct.
