Opinion: Frenchman could provide the impact Spurs need

|

News has emerged that Tanguy Ndombele will be fit to face Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The Frenchman has missed the last two games, and Tottenham did not win either of them.

First, they were beaten 1-0 at home by Newcastle United before scraping a draw in the North London derby against Arsenal.

It was evident in both games that Spurs were missing their new record signing.

On his debut against Aston Villa, the 22-year-old scored a beautiful curling strike that dragged his team level and then against Manchester City in the next game, Ndombele provided an assist for Erik Lamela.

Tottenham have missed a real presence in midfield since Mousa Dembele began to decline and Ndombele has already looked like he can finally be that Dembele replacement only with more end product.

There are a few murmurings of discontent in Tottenham at the moment with some fans unhappy with Mauricio Pochettino and the Argentine unhappy with his board.

This has contributed to a rather lackluster start from the Lillywhites, and the return of Ndombele should be a timely boost to a season that already feels like it could drift.

Spurs began the year thinking they could be title contenders, but none of their performances so far have resembled anything close to potential title challengers.

However, the way Ndombele has settled into the side is sure to be a boost to a lot of Spurs supporters – as he looks like he was born to play in the Premier League and will only get better as time goes on.
