“Mourinho-esque player” – Ex-England international tips Spurs to land “fantastic” winger

|

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England international Danny Mills believes there is ‘every chance’ Spurs will land Ryan Fraser this summer – going on to claim that the winger is a ‘Mourinho-esque player’.

Mills, who managed 19 Three Lions caps over a playing career spanning 14 years, claimed that Fraser would be a ‘bargain’ acquisition for Tottenham on a free transfer – with the player soon to become a free agent on 30 June.

Fraser, who has started 21 Premier League games for current club Bournemouth this season, scoring just one goal and assisting four others, has reportedly told friends he is ‘keen‘ on a move to north London this summer – but the Scotland international could be at the centre of a tug-of-war as clubs search for talented free agents after the recent pandemic.

Nothing to gain

Describing the player as ‘fantastic’, Mills has waxed lyrical over just how good Fraser could become at Spurs and under manager Jose Mourinho in particular – even claiming that the transfer would be a ‘Daniel Levy special’.

Indeed, when it comes to Fraser’s potential for us, the former England man appears to not hold back in his praise of the Scotsman – who has racked up 208 appearances for the Cherries in all competitions since signing back in January 2013.

In that time, Fraser has managed 24 goals and 33 assists under Eddie Howe according to Transfermarkt, potentially highlighting that he could be a worthy addition to our squad – especially on a Bosman free.

“Fraser is a good player and a Mourinho-esque player. He works hard, diligent and puts the hard yards in,” exclaimed Mills to Football Insider.

“That is exactly the sort of player that Mourinho likes so I would say there is every chance, on a free transfer, that Spurs would sign him.

“It is a Daniel Levy special. It would be a bargain in this climate.

“They have had issues on the left side and he could be converted into a left-wing back. I think he would be a fantastic option for Tottenham.”

Indeed, judging by this lofty praise, the 26-year-old could be a more than ideal addition for Mourinho as we prepare to challenge for a Champions League spot next season.
