Well, it’s certainly turned into a couple of interesting weeks for Tottenham Hotspur and today’s clash against Bournemouth at White Hart Lane was no different.

With Pochettino slipping into the rearview for some fans, Jose Mourinho has certainly had an impact on our current form and many would argue in helping to revitalise Dele Alli in particular who helped himself to a brace in today’s Premier League clash.

With a rare and mildly shocking goal coming from Moussa Sissoko as well, we looked pretty comfortable at 3-0 but defensive issues came to the fore again and the visitors made it a nervy ending as they hit back twice.

They couldn’t find the leveller though, so it was three wins on the trot for our new gaffer and our first back to back top flight victories of the year. The win moves us up into fifth place and plenty of fans will be breathing easier tonight.

Speaking to the BBC following the game, Mourinho rightly praised Alli again, as he now has three in three.

“He plays in a position where he feels happy and comfortable. We also give him space for his creativity which he always has. I think he played three phenomenal matches since I arrived. For me Dele is not a midfield player, he is a player to play like he is playing, close to Harry. I think this is the best position for him. He’s the best thing that can happen to a coach because everybody speaks about him, you, the fans speak about him for the right reasons. He’s playing really, really, really well and I could not ask any more from him.”

  • DW.. I had same VS thread as HT. I use Firefox so this thread is now looking like normal.

Yesterday we were ok until Ndememble went off and Moura came on. As we lost some DMF work and Bournemouth got more of the ball. As Jan & Dier (who made some sloppy passes) said we need to be more professional and close out games. So while Jose went for attack, perhaps a defensive adjustment would have been better.

Pleased to see Dele beck to some form, he did well again. Now onto Man Utd. JM will really want to win there, and will get the players up for it…. so we can expect an attacking game, but have to be defensive as well. COYS

ps. Did the singing / crowd support come through on TV to those watching the game? Or was it quiet?

  • As for Sissoko? What a well made and wonderfully executed goal he scored. And the fantastic response from the players and supporters in celebration of it was a lovely thing to see.

Even the disallowed goal from Sanchez came from good looking, well controlled shot from Moussa, that looked to be goal-bound if it wasn’t for all the bodies in front of it…

I wonder how long it’ll be until his next ‘screamer’ hits the back of the net and not to finish up in the top of the stands or hitting a corner flag? 🙂

  • Both, block 108… There were times when the stadium sounded like it was rocking but times when it sounded pretty quiet.

When Sissoko scored it sounded like the noise hit the roof!

  • HT …. You’re right, it is all about confidence at the moment. Winning games is the answer to that so it’s all going in the right direction. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Pochettino ended up at United? Mauricio and Jose swap clubs they were sacked from. That would be an added incentive for both of them to find some glory! Every season throws up something different, and this one will be no exception.

    • 3 points is 3 points and very welcome, but JM must sort out our defence, it appears we need at least 3 goals to win and this will never happen against the better teams. He is renowned for miserly defending, and the sooner he can get this lot to follow his philosophy the better. Perhaps the Jan window is coming at the right time. Midfield and up front will do for now but the defence needs surgery it is a joke.

  • Why oh why can’t we keep a clean sheet even when we are 3-0 in front, it’s a joke we almost managed to snatch defeat from the Jaws of victory.

  • Hi block 108, yes the singing came through pretty well on TV for me, especially the Dele and Moussa songs although the latter seemed to be a bit muted. It is quite noticeable though that there does tend to be periods during games where the crowd goes very quiet, I guess it perks up again after the fans have wet their whistles at half-time! :- )

  • HT….your question regards “the Cherries match thread” I am exactly the same as yourself.

OM….Its not working on my “Google Chrome”, weird, I even tried on “Avast” the same, never mind we are all chatting on this thread, that’s working Lol!

Yesterday, another 3 gls for, 2 against, ah well, its still a win, 2 from Alli, where have you been young man, 2 great assists from Toby n Son, and what about that volley finish from Moussa, the crowd were signing his name, apparently Jose was trying also Lol!

This Aurier bloke, is he a new signing? Lol!, how many times was he in gl scoring positions, his defending is starting to look a bit confident/cool headed, a few have groaned about Sanchez, I thought he had a good game, that back 4 will come together, as HT said esp with more confidence.

Now on to OT on Wednesday, will be watching on Amazon Prime lol! another choice, anyway we need a win, and maybe its time to do it, again! COYS

  • DW….whats going on, this thread now the same as the Cherries match thread, GC and Avast, says 35 replies only getting 21, that being BL 108 spurs, my 2 new posts/replies today have not appeared, am getting anxious, what am I going to do without Vital Lol! COYS

  • Early days. I see new manager bounce but same old problems leaking goals. We haven’t been tested yet either. Wait until we play getter teams.

Dele was on his way back anyway. Think he has more freedom so his evolution this season is coking but it would have under Poch.

Jury still out for me. Credit though to jose for behaving but early days.

Will jose be interested in celso, foyth not sure. How will Sess develop, not a LB so winger competiting with Son and Moura and Lamela not going to be easy.

Still don’t think balance between midfield and defence is right.

Think Toby and Vertonghen want to stay but if they do what does that mean for club in terms of finances, no sell on value at their age in a couple of years.

Think Rose days will be numbered, rightly so after his out bursts. Bet he is kicking himself now especially if Jose doesn’t play him to force him out so club get a return on him and we do win things. If Jose doesn’t play him from now on will he still be happy to sit on the bench for 18 months running his contract down.

Top 4 still going to be hard. Think top 3 will be Liverpool, City and Leicester, so one place left. But we are nearer, and if we beat Utd and Chelsea this month i will be more positive about our chances of getting 4th. Too early to call.

    Miss Poch.

Fans are crap, stadium quiet at times, shameful, was under Poch. For some reason our fans are lazy can’t sustain noise for whole match. Prefer other clubs fans to ours who know how to sing all through regardless.

Suppose we are winning games but a long way to go to prove to be this Jose appointment was right and even if it was in terms of winning things don’t excuse the brutality and ruthlessness the club treated Poch. I’m observing over next 3 years to see what transpires before i begin to get excited, may never again tbh.

Looking forward to seeing Poch again in his next move and see how he does.
