Well, it’s certainly turned into a couple of interesting weeks for Tottenham Hotspur and today’s clash against Bournemouth at White Hart Lane was no different.

With Pochettino slipping into the rearview for some fans, Jose Mourinho has certainly had an impact on our current form and many would argue in helping to revitalise Dele Alli in particular who helped himself to a brace in today’s Premier League clash.

With a rare and mildly shocking goal coming from Moussa Sissoko as well, we looked pretty comfortable at 3-0 but defensive issues came to the fore again and the visitors made it a nervy ending as they hit back twice.

They couldn’t find the leveller though, so it was three wins on the trot for our new gaffer and our first back to back top flight victories of the year. The win moves us up into fifth place and plenty of fans will be breathing easier tonight.

Speaking to the BBC following the game, Mourinho rightly praised Alli again, as he now has three in three.

“He plays in a position where he feels happy and comfortable. We also give him space for his creativity which he always has. I think he played three phenomenal matches since I arrived. For me Dele is not a midfield player, he is a player to play like he is playing, close to Harry. I think this is the best position for him. He’s the best thing that can happen to a coach because everybody speaks about him, you, the fans speak about him for the right reasons. He’s playing really, really, really well and I could not ask any more from him.”

  • Dropping this in debate section as a test on comments, just in case the last match thread somehow corrupted during our server move folks.

      • Now my posts aren’t turning up on page 2 of this thread but I have managed to post again on this page!

        Wos goin’ on?!

        • Seems there is still an issue, my post have failed to appear on page two, looks like there could be a similar issue as the previous thread following the first post on the second page. There has been an issue for some time, even prior to the server move, where new posts don’t always show up right away and sometimes appear and disappear again a couple of times before appearing after a refresh and remaining.

          • Well, I’m thoroughly confused, but there’s probably nothing new there. So P1 is still working when you reply to a comment, so it appears P2 has caused the issue to repeat, so that narrows it down a bit. Update sent folks, sorry for this.

            • Earlier tonight I tried posting “Testing ” on page two to see if it was fixed but nothing appeared, I tried the same thing just now and got a message back saying I had repeated the same message! lol

  • Going to be a whole different test on Wednesday, if we play in the same vain in attack against what is a poor Manu defence we could score quite a few, trouble is we will need to tighten up and show more composure in defence against their speed merchants otherwise we could easily ship loads of goals as well!

  • Just writing this as a test must have written the same thing on the last thread 5 times. Jose would love a win on Wednesday nite better still, a win with a clean sheet. Good to see N’Dombele featuring on Saturday. Great goal from Sissoko. Dele going from strength to strength.

  • Seeing if my writing gets on here, still nothing on google or avast.

Anyway, everything has been said what I think, great to see Alli back, defence still a bit shaky lol!, work to do Jose, never mind 3 wins on the trot.

Have always been a Dier backer, but think some weight needs to be trimmed, to muscular esp for a position where he needs to keep going.

Heady days, up to 5th this season, moving in the right direction, now for another away win on Wednesday. COYS

  • To remain 5th today; we need Sheff Utd and Wolves to draw. Norwich to beat or draw with the Arsenal and Villa to gain at least 1 point from Man U.

I can see this happening. And if it does and then we beat Man U on Wednesday, then top 4 as an aim, is looking more and more realistic. Especially if Villa can also gain a point or 3 vs Chelsea on the same night…

    Here’s to hoping…

    Up the Spurs!

    • The first two of those match results have gone our way, with two draws… Hopefully Villa can now follow on with a point or three vs United…

    • Its Sunday night and your wish has come true- we are still 5th, We need to keeping winning and Chelsea needs to keep getting a draw so we can catch up and overtake.

  • Hi everyone… The opening comments on here tell me that there has been a problem for all, with posting on the Cherries match thread. But what I’d like to know is does that thread look the same to all of you as it does to me?

What I’m seeing is page 2 of it just showing 1 comment from PY and then a page 3 showing just 1 comment from Niall D. The first page is as it was…

I ask just to confirm that it’s not also a problem that I’m having with my system. As, VS is still giving me slight problems that I have had before. In that when I post a comment it may appear straight away but then disappear for a while. As my first comment did this morning… Sometimes they don’t reappear at all.

  • HT …. I have the same as you on the match thread. I thought it was my computer. Then I thought it was me, which led me to question if I actually existed, or not. I eventually figured out that I did. That improved my day. It would have helped if VS stated that a problem was being experienced. Seems okay now though.

Three lovely goals yesterday. I’m sure we all thought that Sissoko would find the net one day, it’s a question of probabilities. A win at United would certainly do wonders for the season.

  • Cheers, Geof.

Yes it would’ve help to get some info on it from VS. Because I wasn’t at all sure if it was a problem at my end or not. And I wouldn’t have wasted time attempting several times to post on the match-thread… Oh well…

Who’d have thought it? Jose turns up, Spurs score 10 goals in his opening 3 matches but still ship 6 goals in the process… He has a lot of work to do but I think it’s a lot to do with more confidence and better team-work needed, more than due to individuals as such. As, even with the 10 goals, I think our poor defending is not just down to our defenders. I see it coming about from a lot of loose play from front to back.

Even so, the confidence is slowly returning and I’m sure that with that improved team-work, organisation and a greater solidity in defending well, will surely return. I also think that we’ll be scoring a lot more goals as well… (In theory!) 😉
