Match Thread – Will Spurs Be Ole-ing After Difficult United Clash

|

With small and subtle improvements in Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against dogged and resilient Burnley in our midweek EFL Cup victory, simply put, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have to be a hell of a lot better as we go up against Manchester United on Saturday.

Welcoming under fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to White Hart Lane is going to be no easy task at all given the form we are in and unfortunately for us, the fact they are on a run of four without a win means we can expect some kind of reaction from them. If we click again like we did at the very beginning of the campaign, defend well and be clinical (albeit not quite flowing) in attack, we can get back to winning ways here, but that’s easier said than done.

Perform as we have done in some matches this year, and if they give Ole a response, this one could be quite painful.

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

Talk of Fonseca being back in the frame. Our record with Portugese managers isn’t good. I guess the board feel the need to act before Newcastle and Barcelona sign up anyone half decent.

  • TK says:

I saw on report that Levy is negotiation with Conte again, but I think nothing to be taken seriously at this time. DL has no problem sacking managers. But he seems fairly clueless for the most part in hiring them.

I would like to apologize to Frank that I didn’t join on his wagon years ago in calling to be rid of Levy.

  • Allan says:

I find it really strange that members on here blame everyone except the top man who has presided over the dross we have witnessed this season .
He has presided over us winning a 3rd rate cup and yes a couple of finals where we were completely outplayed .
His choice of manager has been lamentable ( how many now ? )
He has presided over us buying the wrong players or those that the last 2 managers could’t get the best out of .
Sacking poorly paid workers during Covid was a disgrace . Has he appointed a supporter rep to the board ?
He has not kept his promise of appointing someone who could play attackind football .
Very few people wish to work for him
The players do not wish to play for Nuno which was a top class appointment by Levy .
Money is the main driving force and I seem to remember that when ENIC took over there was some disquiet about a Swiss ? club which they owned at the time . I’m sure that someone will enlighten .
I’m sure the Levy apologists completely rubbish my comments but it is hard not to see where the problems spring from and if I produced results At GCSE and A level like Levy has on the pith then I would have been asked .

The stats are quite scary to look at, 16th to 20th. Players also needs to take action, looks like they want nuno out,

  • Allan says:

    SACKED !!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I wonder…..are the players aiming to get every manager sacked until Poch returns?

  • 123spurs says:

I can only imagine what’s going on behind the scenes. Can’t see him staying now. Ryan Mason again?

  • 123spurs says:

Are we going to interview the 10 guys before nuno again.

  • Geofspurs says:

TQ …. Thanks for the ‘streaming’ feedback. Should be a good cup final in December.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Yes Geof, they are the two stand out teams so far this season.

  • Spurfect One says:

What an absolute sh*t show of a mess from top to bottom. Levy has created a toxic environment within the fan base due to terrible on field decisions, Nuno is merely trying his best in a situation he is clearly not comfortable with. The moment we insisted on attacking play and hired Nuno there was always going to be issues and the two do not mesh. Nuno is a decent manager who is being made to look totally clueless due to the decisions and recruitment of this board. Clearly Nuno is out of his depth, but it should have never come to this in the first place, piss poor management from the board, the likes of Donner Cullen, Mathew Collecott, Todd Kline and Rebecca Caplehorn are not football people and Levy certainly isn’t.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Spurfect….you shouldn’t forget the players have a part to play in this as well. Look at the stats…we rank 20th in the distance covered by players in PL matches, I’m pretty sure Nuno isn’t telling them not to put in the hard yards.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

When you look at Wet Spams performance and result at Villa today you could easily think our 1-0 loss at their place wasn’t so bad but the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story.

  • 123spurs says:

WH are solid, organised, plan in place, fight, desire, heart, effort etc. Spurs players have none of this, nuno has been dealt a bad hand. But who knows what he is like behind the scenes. For me 60 40 blame the players.

  • jod says:

Real problems with reality. Sack the manager, get rid of the chairman, keep the players who aren’t doing their job. No one see a problem with that ? Back when everyone wanted Mourinho out the one question no one would answer was who replaced him. The usual response was “anyone would be better”. This cop out was shown for what it was once we tried to sign a new manager. So we fire Nuno, who replaces him ? If its Conte we’ll need to replace him a season down the line going by his track record. The irony of the situation is David Moyes has already shown at West Ham how you resuscitate a football club. But he’s British and unfashionable so we obviously wouldn’t hire someone like that.

  • Allan says:

Jod Which self respecting manager would agree to manage this club ? I understand that Levy was rebuffed by several during his embarrassing attempt to recruit a manager in the Summer .
Other clubs hate dealing with him and his man management style it appears leaves much to be desired .
You obviously support Levy so please could you answer my points which I made in a plevious post .
    Thanks

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    Just been confirmed, Nuno sacked.

  • Allan says:

Well here it is Nuno has been sacked !!
I feel really sorry for him

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Not sure we are ambitious enough to get Conte but he is just what we need, someone who won’t be afraid to put noses out of joint and has the cahoonas to appoint the popular choice of Hojbjerg as captain. Many of the longer serving players are failing to put in a shift and have got a succession of managers sacked, time to bring in someone who will sort them out or move them out.

  • Shroppie says:

I got it wrong I said nuno out by December
    He’s gone November
What now from levy and the board can’t wait from the shambles over they next weeks and end up
With a manager nobody has herd of but he be cheap I sure
