Match Thread – Spurs’ Preparation Couldn’t Be Better For Yet Another Southampton Clash

|

With the ‘Winter Breaks’ beginning now we are passed the January transfer window and already a few days into the month of February, Tottenham Hotspur players have one more tie to think of before they can put the proverbial boots up in front of a fire for a week and a bit – so it’s all eyes to Wednesday evening’s FA Cup fourth round replay against Southampton at White Hart Lane.

It wasn’t an attacking performance to be proud of at the weekend, as we welcomed Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side to home soil, but the game is about taking chances and trying to keep a clean sheet and despite their dominance, we made our minimal chances count massively as Steven Bergwijn scored on his debut and Son Heung-Min added a second. With goalkeeper Hugo Lloris reminding us just how good he can be, we even snagged the clean sheet as we took three points.

Undoubtedly, fans will be looking for a better overall performance against Southampton, but you have to credit how we dug in. Repeat that kind of effort and we should be through to the fifth round under our own steam, but with that said, we can certainly expect Southampton to be as tricky as we have learnt in recent matches.

They say fortune favours the brave, let’s hope we Dare To Do just that…
