Match Thread – Mourinho’s Been Sent On His Jose As Greedy Spurs Again Misjudge The Mood

|

Well, it’s turned into a semi-interesting week for fans of Tottenham Hotspur – but not in a way many of us would’ve liked it to be.

Following Sunday’s late breaking European Super League nonsense, on Monday morning Spurs took an unexpected step and decided to sack manager Jose Mourinho. Now maybe I’m too cynical for my own good, but this smacks of changing the narrative and trying to drive headlines as nobody can be in any doubt about how badly the ESL has been received, not just at club level, but across the wider footballing world.

European Super League

Love It

Disgraceful Move

There is absolutely only one driver to this – greed and money – and having previously misjudged the mood when it came to Covid and furlough, Daniel Levy, the board and our owner have again monumentally misjudged fans in their chase for what I can only see as a criminal and cartel like ‘closed shop’ competition that gives all those involved a clear unfair advantage over fellow domestic sides – which in turn, ruins the credibility of that leagues competitive nature.

Not a merit based advantage that we currently have, but an advantage wholly gained by a handout for involvement and nothing more.

Fans are hoping to return to a more normal life after Covid, and Spurs pull this stunt now and to me, simply sack Mourinho as a public relations move to deflect attention. It’s contemptible and disgusting behaviour in no way demonstrating what our club should stand for.

We play Southampton this Wednesday evening, I’m not so sure how much I care now.

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

WW …. Levy was just doing what, for his own reasons, he thought he should do. We all do that. He did not do anything illegal. And not even Tottenham supporters agree whether it was for the good of the game, the club …. or even if it was morally right. So why is he going to apologise and who is he going to apologise to. If you are waiting for him to give you a personal apology I have some bad news. It’s not going to happen. You can continue complaining about something you have no control over or you can move on. Your choice.

I note there is talk of punishment for the the breakaway 12.
I can’t see it being euro banishment for a season as:
1 Who would watch European football with those teams missing.
2 They would actually then just play a small tournament among themselves, WAIT A MINUTE!!
I just hope this is, a wake up call for all those involved, and I am partly in agreement with the “sour grapes” from Villa et Al.
But on the bigger picture watching us play Barcelona in Qatar or the like just isn’t for me.
Can’t wait for Sunday now, where as last week it was a bit so so.

ww…why do you not realise these apologies mean “Jack Shit” they are just a PR stunt.

I’ve said this before, when the fans are allowed back the season tickets will still sell out. COYS

Niall. We wouldn’t have been playing Barca in Qatar.(?) What makes you think that? We would have been playing them as in any other European comp. In Barcelona and at home.

It’s funny though, because every time we’ve played in the EL, there are a lot of supporters that will always complain about playing unheard of clubs in the deepest eastern parts of Europe. And calling the matches a waste of time etc.

And yet are these not the kind of clubs that the protests against the ESL are about? The small fry having their day against the likes of Spurs? This to me is the yet another example of the hypocrisy of supporters in this whole damn affair.

As for Levy apologising? Maybe he just isn’t sorry… So, why lie?!

I wonder why I have the feeling that if this was going ahead and the Gooners and the others were in the ESL but Sours were not. That the ones asking Levy to apologise and the ones calling for his head and “ENIC OUT!” Would now be calling for the exact same. Asking the question why them and not us?! ENIC OUT! Unless we are in!

Super League clubs unlikely to get penalties with the exception of Man Utd who will get two in added time.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Time to move on from the ESL – and I don’t want, need or expect an apology from Mr Levy. As HT says, if he is not sorry then he shouldn’t apologise.
Big game on Sunday by the way. Ryan Mason – he’s one of our own. COYS

    • PompeyYid says:

Donny, well said there, who needs apologies, whether their meaningful or not, they mean “Jack Shit” and are for PR purposes only.

Yes we do have a game on Sunday, obviously not important enough lol!

      Come On Ryan’s Spurs.

If anyone is interested today marks…..

100 years of Spurs wearing our famous Cockerel on our shirt/jersey for the first time.

The game was v Wolves in the 1921 FA Cup Final, played at Stamford Bridge, Jimmy Dimmock scoring the only goal, thus a 1-0 win. COYS

We should see a match day thread appear at any moment!
