King replaced Gerrard and played in front of the defence. The formation worked as it gave Lampard the licence to go forward.
Sven will surely have King now firmly in his plans for the summer tournament? He proved he is up for the job and tonight proved there isn’t space in the team for both Gerrard and Lampard.
